December 2023
This Gifts from Wrtiers section continues a tradition that I’d begun on my website when first it commenced in 2013. Many years ago, I’d encountered this feature in literary magazines of yore, and I decided to try my own version of it on this writer’s digital pages.
This time of year sparks creativity in me, and it always has.
No matter where you are, or what you are doing, the month of December can hold hope, that light in the darkness we all seek. Create those moments of wishes-come-true. There’s the true meaning of goodwill.
Tumult and trouble won’t cease, and it’s for sure that the worst within some people won’t go away. I throw a stiff hand to them, and to the weary wind they inhabit. Some day, the naysayers may get a clue, but it’s not up to you to be the soothsayer.
Spend your precious time among the goodness and the tenderness of humankind, the persons wanting and needing to be of help to any downhearted human, or pet, or stray.
The wonders of the world outnumber the woes, and wherever you go, try, do more than try — eagerly find that smile within yourself to give to others. What’s a smile worth if it’s not given to another in need of cheer?
Happy hunting for a Christmas tree.
Merry Chrsitmas and a Happy New Year!
Joyeux Noël et bonne année !
